Water Districts
There are several public water systems that serve distinct areas of Underhill and
Jericho. The Jericho-Underhill Water District serves the Underhill Flats and River-
side sections: VT Rt. 15 between Poker Hill Rd. and the Browns River bridge; c.½
mile of Poker Hill Rd.; parts of Palmer Lane; bottom section of Meadow Lane;
Park St. and its side roads; River Rd. from VT Rt. 15 to the Guay farm; most homes
on Maple Ridge in Underhill; Raceway Rd. and most of its side roads in Jericho
from VT Rt. 15 to the United Christian Assembly Church.
The Village of Jericho Water District serves VT Rt. 15 from the Essex town line
to the Merchants Bank; Lawrence Heights; Lee River Rd. to Layfayette Dr.,
Layfayette Dr., Clover Lane; Railroad Cir., Buxton Lane, Sunny View Dr.; the
Griswold St. neighborhood; Cilley Hill Rd. to the Browns River bridge; part of Old
Pump Rd.; Packard Rd. to the high school; Starbird Dr.; Mount Mansfield Union
High School; some homes on Morgan Rd. to the Range.
Foothills Water System, operated by Jericho Fire District #1, serves the Foothills
development - Foothills Dr. and its side roads. Jericho East Homeowners’ Associa-
tion operates a water system for the Jericho East development.

According to Bert Lindholm of the Jericho Center Cemetery Association, Vermont
state law says that if there is an abandoned or derelict cemetery and at least three
people petition the town’s selectboard, then the selectboard must accept responsibil-
ity for maintaining that cemetery.
Jericho has two small cemeteries maintained by the Jericho Select Board: Castle
Cemetery, behind Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, VT Rt. 15; and Lowery Cem-
etery, a small family cemetery off Raceway Rd.

Kayla Thibault, the CVAA Case Manager for Jericho and Underhill Case man-
agers make in-home visits and connect individuals with the services and resources
they need to remain independent and in their own home. Kayla may be reached at
either of the CVAA office numbers listed above.
Services include:
Meals on Wheels – Hot, wholesome meals provided to seniors, age 60 and over.
Delivered by volunteers to homebound individuals who are ill, frail, or recuperat-
ing after a hospital stay and unable to prepare their own meals. (Last year, meals
were provided to 10 seniors in Jericho and to 5 seniors in Underhill.)
Senior Community Meals – Served at the meal sites at Covenant Community
Church in Essex and several area restaurants. Menus and meal sites are listed in the
Mountain Gazette, or call the CVAA office. For seniors at least 60 years old (and
their spouses). Suggested donation for the meals, $5. Transportation may be avail
able if needed; reservations are required. Both may be arranged ahead of time by
calling 865-0360.
Senior Helpline – This toll-free service provides answers to questions and con-
cerns regarding services for older people. Seniors and their family members can
reach the Helpline at (800) 642-5119 (voice; TTY).
Jeri-Hill XYZ Seniors
Meet on the 1st & 3rd Wed. of each month at the Underhill Town Hall, Underhill
Center. Dinners served at 11:30 AM, pot luck or a homecooked meal under the
direction of Marie St. Peter. Transportation to meals available – call E.J. at 899-
5198 by Monday before the meeting date to reserve. Meetings are cancelled for bad
weather if the Chittenden East School District cancels school. The club also orga-
nizes outings by bus, boat, and train, and local parties
and activities.
